CHAD UMBLE | Staff WriterThe owners of Country Pit Beef Restaurant at Green Dragon Farmers Market and Auction near Ephrata are planning to open a new restaurant in Columbia.
The new Country Pit Beef will take a 1,400-square-foot space at 114 N. Third St., the former home of Taco to Go, which closed in February.
Country Pit Beef has a menu that includes beef barbecue sandwiches, cheesesteaks and burgers as well as Asian dishes such as chicken teriyaki, sweet and sour chicken and green curry chicken. Long and Nga Phan bought the restaurant in January 2023 from May Yang and Long Moua who operated it for nearly 20 years at Green Dragon.
Long Phan said they plan to continue at Green Dragon but want to add a new location with the same menu since Green Dragon is only open on Fridays. He said he expects to open the Columbia restaurant by mid-August.
