The owners of a coffee truck that parks regularly in a Strasburg are making plans to open a drive-thru shop at a former bank building in the borough.

Joe on the Go Coffee Co. owners Nathan and Denise Claycom want to use drive-thru windows at the former PNC Bank branch at 1 E. Main St. for a new takeout coffee shop. The building in the center of town at Main and Decatur streets was recently bought by Stoltzfus Realty, which moved its offices there from Lancaster city.

The borough’s zoning hearing board recently granted a waiver needed to open a drive-thru restaurant in the bank building.

Nathan Claycomb said they will begin making plans for the necessary financing and renovations to the drive thru. If all goes well, the drive-thru could open in mid-September, he said.

For the last two years the Joe on the Go Coffee Co. coffee truck has parked during the week at 2 Miller St., where there is some inside seating space.

Correction: This article was updated to clarify the review process for the zoning waiver needed for the coffee shop, which doesn't require sign off from the borough council.
