Summer has arrived in Lancaster County, and temperatures have already set new records during the summer months of 2024.
July 16 saw a temperature of 100°F in some parts of the county, a record for that date. It was the middle of the third major heat wave in Lancaster County for 2024 that has sent temperatures soaring and saw numerous heat advisories issued/extended. Both June 22 and July 15 also recorded record temperatures.

All data was provided by the National Weather Service in State College, and is based off of temperatures recorded at Lancaster Airport in Manheim Township.
Aside from this year's new entries on the list, the previous recent highs on the list came on June 2, 2023, when temperatures reached 98°F in the midst of a prolonged drought in the county before much of the Mid-Atlantic was hit by poor air quality from wildfires in Canada. Another 98-degree day came on Sept. 4, 2023, during an additional heat wave that broke multiple individual-date records.
The hottest recorded temperature in the county happened August 7, 1918, with a high of 107 degrees, according to Millersville University's Weather Information Center. The weather center's records date back to 1914.
