Lititz Borough West Orange Street fire

Firefighters and EMS arrived at 18 West Orange St. in Lititz Borough just after 6 a.m. for a reported house fire.

Two family pets died last week in an electrical fire at a Lititz Borough home on West Orange Street, according to firefighters and a family friend.

The Thursday morning fire at 18 W. Orange St. killed the dog of the family who lived there, according to Warwick Fire Commissioner Duane Ober. No people were injured.

Ober said the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction and ruled it accidental.

An online fundraiser organized by a family friend said the dog was a Great Dane and that a cat died in the blaze as well. The fundraiser had generated nearly $13,000 of its $20,000 goal as of Tuesday afternoon.

Ober said the home was a complete loss but did not have a damage estimate.

Fire destroyed the home in less than an hour. Emergency crews responded just after 6 a.m. and had the fire under control by 6:40.
