A Dauphin County man sexually abused a mentally disabled woman while working as her caregiver at a Manheim Township group home, according to police.

Manheim Township police July 22 charged Jeffrey Daniel Stotler, 58, of Oak Knoll Estates trailer park, Conewago Township, with aggravated indecent assault and two related offenses, saying he had sexual contact with a disabled woman he was hired to care for at a Faithful Homes location on Hampton Lane.

The woman and a relative initially called police Feb. 10, telling them and the Lancaster County Children’s Alliance that Stotler had kissed, hugged and molested the woman, according to charging documents. The woman told police Stotler had molested her at multiple places on her body, leaving semen.

Stotler denied molesting the woman, saying he only “side hugged” her, according to charging documents. Police matched DNA found on the woman to Stotler on July 9.

Faithful Homes did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday.

Stotler is free on $150,000 unsecured bail. He declined to comment Tuesday, deferring to his lawyer, Andrew Szilagyi, who also declined to comment. Stotler is scheduled for a hearing Sept. 25.
