The owners of Pepe’s Pizza in Clay Township are selling their business and retiring after 28 years.
Sunday, June 2, is the last day for the restaurant at 1790 Clay Road that was opened in 1996 by Paolo and Maria Quaranta, who ran it with members of their family.
“We want to extend our deepest gratitude to all our loyal customers who have made this journey possible. Our support and patronage over the last three decades have meant the world to our family,” the owners wrote in a Facebook post.
Paolo and Maria Quaranta previously tried to retire in November 2020 when they began leasing their restaurant to someone else. But the couple returned in August 2022 and resumed operating Pepe’s Pizza.
This time, Maria Quaranta said they found a buyer for the business and the property that they have owned since 2000. She declined to identify the buyer since the sale hasn’t been finalized.
