The Pressroom

The Pressroom Restaurant at 26-28 W. King St. in Lancaster city is closing Saturday, June 22.

The owners of The Pressroom Restaurant are closing the downtown Lancaster restaurant on Saturday as their landlord is seeking to evict them due to overdue rent.

The restaurant at 26-28 W. King St. has been owned and operated for nearly two years by York-based O.N.E. Hospitality Group.

"We're incredibly disappointed to announce the closure of The Pressroom," Toni Calderone, owner of O.N.E. Hospitality Group, said Wednesday in announcing the closure. "We've enjoyed serving the Lancaster community and wish we could have continued to work on perfecting our offering in this amazing space. We are grateful we had the opportunity to serve you.”

The Pressroom Restaurant property is owned by Zamagias, a Pittsburgh-based real estate firm with numerous real estate holdings in Lancaster city, including 101 N. Queen St. Zamagias filed a landlord/tenant complaint May 24 against Another One LLC, the O.N.E. Hospitality Group subsidiary that operates the Pressroom, alleging that lease payments hadn’t been made since March. The lawsuit did not indicate exactly how much is owed.

“I can confirm that the lawsuit is related to a lease agreement, and I am working with my legal team to address the situation appropriately,” Calderone told LNP | LancasterOnline, adding that she couldn’t comment on specifics due to legal reasons.

O.N.E. Hospitality Group also owns Tutoni’s Restaurant and One South Boutique Hotel & Venue in downtown York as well as a catering service and several other food service ventures including Presto Fast Italian, a quick-service pasta restaurant with two locations in York County. A new location for Presto Fast Italian is set to open soon in the Donegal Square shopping center off Route 230 in Rapho Township.

As it announced the Pressroom closure, O.N.E. indicated it is focusing all of its efforts on expanding its Presto Fast Italian restaurants.

The coming closure of the Pressroom follows O.N.E.’s decision to abandon plans for Andonia’s Chophouse, which it said it would build at The Crossings at Conestoga Creek in Manheim Township. Plans for the Italian-themed steakhouse, which were originally announced in December 2021, were dropped in February before any construction had begun.

Before O.N.E Hospitality took over the Pressroom, the restaurant in the historic Steinman Hardware building was owned and operated by a subsidiary of Steinman Communications, former publisher of LNP | LancasterOnline. The Steinman subsidiary, which initially leased the space to O.N.E., sold 20-38 W. King St. to Zamagias in December for $5.5 million.

No one from Zamagias responded to a message left seeking comment on the closing of The Pressroom and possible future plans for the space.
