Caribbean Wave, which opened in 2017, is now closed in Lancaster city.

After serving traditional Jamaican fare for nearly seven years, Caribbean Wave has closed its Lancaster city restaurant.

Opened in November 2017, Caribbean Wave featured jerk and curry chicken as well as jerk catfish and jerk shrimp from a small restaurant at 701 E. Chestnut St.

Caribbean Wave was owned by Damain “Wolf” Cavallo, who started it with the help of Rakish “Ziggy” Watson. Before opening the restaurant, the pair had a roadside grill.

Cavallo did not respond to a question asking the reason for the restaurant’s closure. In posts on his personal Facebook page, Cavallo said that he has left Lancaster and is working on other pursuits in music and as a cook.

Before Caribbean Wave, the restaurant building at the corner of East Chestnut and North Franklin streets was occupied by Rice-N-Roll, a Filipino restaurant and grocery store. A worker at the property last week said a new restaurant will be opening there sometime soon.
