Venezuelan government leaders have ratcheted up their attacks on their opponents as foreign countries, including key ally Brazil and the U.S., decry a lack of transparency over Sunday's disputed presidential election. Tuesday's of attacks came a day after President Nicolás Maduro was declared the winner by a National Electoral Council that is loyal to him and the ruling party. They were aired on national television and included calls for the arrests of opposition candidate Edmundo González and the bloc's most influential leader, Maria Corina Machado. The council has not released detailed voting data, but the opposition says it has secured tallies that show González won by a landslide.

Venezuela is tense. Incumbent President Nicolás Maduro and the country’s main opposition coalition both claim that they won Sunday’s presidential election. The national electoral authority proclaimed Maduro the winner. The opposition represented by Edmundo González said it has evidence to the contrary. Electoral authorities installed more than 30,000 voting machines. By law the opposition had the right to have representatives at all voting centers. But not all were allowed in on Sunday or were ousted before polls closed. After those polls close, Venezuela’s electronic voting machines can print sheets tallying all the votes that each counted. Experts say that the best way to clear up the dispute is to release those sheets. But the National Electoral Council has not done so.

Pakistan has developed and successfully tested a government messaging app for secure communication among officials, even as it restricts social media use and regularly shuts down internet and mobile phone networks to prevent dissent. Baber Majid, the CEO at the National Information Technology Board, said on Tuesday that should the government approve it, the platform could eventually be available to millions of citizens. He said “beep” has already successfully undergone trial runs since 2023 and is "now ready for launch.” Ordinary Pakistanis are struggling to access X, which authorities blocked ahead of the Feb. 8 parliamentary elections, a vote  that was overshadowed by violence, an unprecedented shutdown of all mobile phone services and allegations of vote rigging.

As thousands of people demonstrate across Venezuela, opposition candidate Edmundo González has announced that his campaign has the proof it needs to show he won the country’s disputed election whose victory electoral authorities handed to President Nicolás Maduro. González and opposition leader Maria Corina Machado told reporters they have obtained more than 70% of tally sheets from Sunday’s election, and they show González with more than double Maduro’s votes. Both called on people, some of whom protested in the hours after Maduro was declared winner, to remain calm and invited them to gather peacefully at 11 a.m. Tuesday to celebrate the results.

González and opposition leader María Corina Machado told supporters gathered outside his campaign headquarters in Venezuela’s capital that they have obtained more than 70% of the tally sheets from Sunday’s disputed election, and they show González ahead of Maduro.

A judge has dismissed a lawsuit challenging absentee voting procedures in swing state Wisconsin. Thomas Oldenberg is a voter from Amberg, Wisconsin. He filed a lawsuit in February arguing that voters who request absentee ballots through the state's MyVote database must include a physical copy of the request in the ballot return envelopes. State election officials have maintained that language on the envelope stating that the envelope is a copy of the request satisfies state law and changes at this stage would be disruptive. Online court records indicate Door County Circuit Judge David Weber delivered an oral ruling Monday finding in the state's favor and dismissing the lawsuit. Oldenberg's attorneys didn't immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
