It was “Five O’Clock Somewhere,” all right — at least at Lancaster Liederkranz on July 20.

The venue’s annual Parrot Fest, a nod to the late Jimmy Buffett, brought music, good drinks and fun to Lancaster Liederkranz Pavilion and Fest Grounds in Rapho Township.

The event featured a performance from Jimmy & The Parrots, which has performed for Buffett fans at the annual Meeting of the Minds Parrothead conventions in Key West, Florida, for 15 years. The band plays classic Buffett songs like “Margaritaville” and “Fins,” as well as hits like Paul Simon’s “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard” and Bob Marley and the Wailers’ “Three Little Birds.”

Beach and surf rock band Tropical Sunz opened the show.

Attendees enjoyed beverages and food — and, yes, could even get a “Cheeseburger in Paradise.”

Lancaster Liederkranz’s popular annual Oktoberfest, presented by the Alpenrose Schuhplattler Dancers, will return Sept. 20-22. Its holiday event, Christkindlmarkt, is Dec. 15.

Lancaster Liederkranz is at 722 S. Chiques Road, Manheim. For more information, visit lancasterliederkranz.com.
