Eight area players have been voted to the inaugural Pennsylvania State Baseball Coaches Association All-State teams, including five first-team selections.

Making first teams were Hempfield’s Brody Gebhard as a pitcher and Brayden Hostetter as an outfielder in Class 6A, Northern Lebanon’s Moises Gonzalez as an outfielder in Class 4A, and Mount Calvary Christian’s David Zamora as a pitcher and Ben Gerlach as a catcher in Class 1A.

The second-team selections were Manheim Central’s Kye Watson as an outfielder in Class 4A, and Northern Lebanon’s Adrian Gonzalez as a pitcher and Andrew Via as an infielder in Class 4A.

Each district compiled a list of nominations within all classifications and presented them to the “All State Committee” for review and selection.

Gebhard and Hostetter, both juniors, helped lead the Black Knights to District Three and PIAA championships.

Gebhard had five wins and a 1.27 ERA. He threw a no-hitter in the Black Knights’ second-round PIAA win over Erie McDowell and threw a complete game in the championship-game win over La Salle College High School.

Hostetter hit .464 with 24 RBIs and a 1.180 OPS. He had a two-run single in the 3-2 win over La Salle College.

Moises Gonzalez, a senior, hit .469 with eight homers, 31 RBIs and a 1.530 OPS.

Zamora and Gerlach, both juniors, helped Mount Calvary Christian win the District Three championship.

Zamora went 6-1 with a 1.22 ERA. He threw a no-hitter in the win over Lancaster County Christian in the district final, striking out 14.

Gerlach hit .566 with one home run, 23 runs, 24 RBIs and a 1.539 OPS.

Watson, a senior, hit .419 with two home runs.

Adrian Gonzalez, a sophomore, had a 0.79 ERA and struck out 72, while also hitting .370.

Andrew Via, a sophomore, hit .477 with a 1.161 OPS.
