Detour to be in place during Christiana bridge work starting April 8

The bridge over Williams Run on South Bridge Street in Christiana will be closed April 8 so it can be replaced, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

A detour will be in place using Germantown Avenue and Water Street.

The $2.1 million project includes replacing the bridge, adding American With Disabilities Act curb ramps and a new curb and sidewalk, paving approaches, and relocating a sewer line.

The project, which was previously expected to begin April 1, is estimated to be completed by Dec. 20, according to PennDOT.

Lobar Site Development Corp. of Carroll Township in York County is the contractor.
