What happened: Supervisors appointed resident Christopher Simon to serve as the township’s representative to the Mount Joy Fire Foundation.
Background: During a June 20 meeting, Bob Purcell, president of Fire Department Mount Joy, and Jim Johns, treasurer, asked the township to provide a representative to serve on the nine-member board of the Mount Joy Fire Foundation. Purcell said they would like a representative for the board from each municipality the fire department serves. The foundation was formed in 2001 to manage an endowment Fire Department Mount Joy received, Johns said.
More: Simon, who works as a financial adviser, served on the Manheim Borough Council as a council member and president before moving to Rapho Township in 2016.
Public works equipment: Supervisors authorized the auction of a 2000 Volvo single-axle dump truck with plow and spreader on Municibid.com with a starting bid of $5,000. The auction will end at noon Aug. 8.
Next meeting: The next meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 1 at the township municipal office, 971 N. Colebrook Road, Manheim.
