At its July 18 meeting, Elizabethtown Borough Council voted 4-2 to pass what was listed on the agenda as a “nonsanctuary city” resolution. I’m not surprised.
According to the July 20 LNP | LancasterOnline article about the meeting (“E-town passes ‘nonsanctuary’ resolution”), Elizabethtown council member Jay Hynicker stated, “We’ve had Blacks in Elizabethtown for a long time. We’ve never had a problem with them.”
Does Hynicker not consider “Blacks” to be citizens of our country? The article stated that Hynicker did not immediately respond to a phone message asking him to explain what he meant by his comment.
Is he being misconstrued, or was that a racist remark?
